It covers what you are buying, what happens if you change your mind, and what happens if we have to cancel.

Four dates that matter

Our commitments to the Mill fall due on fixed days. Everything below follows them rather than the other way round.

1.1 What you are buying

A seat in the founding cohort of (re)write Your Story, January 28–29, 2027, at Wakefield Mill: all sessions and materials, your room for the night of the 28th, and every meal from the start of day one to the end of day two.

Not included: travel to and from Wakefield, anything you add to your room bill at the Mill, and personal insurance.

1.2 How you pay

Places are limited to fourteen, and a seat is yours as soon as you pay. The full fee of $1,950 plus applicable taxes is due in a single payment, and your seat is confirmed once it clears. These terms take effect at that moment.

Two partial scholarships are available for this cohort. If you hold one, everything below applies to the amount you actually paid. The scholarship portion is not refundable and cannot be transferred.

1.3 If something comes up and it impacts your commitment

Before you ask for a refund, consider one of these options. They could be more valuable to you than a refund, and both remain open until January 14, 2027.

• Pass your seat to someone else. Tell us who is taking your place and put us in touch. They settle up with you directly, and we charge no fee.
• Come to the next one instead. Move the full amount you paid to any cohort in the next eighteen months, at the price you paid rather than the price then.

If a refund is what you need:

• Up to December 14, 2026: we will refund you in full; no reason needed.
• December 15 to December 28: We can refund 50% of what you paid.
• After December 28: no refund available. Your room, catering and materials are committed to your name by then, and we pay for them whether or not you come.

Write to us, and your cancellation takes effect the day we receive it. Refunds are returned to the card or account you paid from within 10 business days, including taxes on the refunded amount. Life happens, and we get it. Please write to us before you do anything else, we would much rather hear from you early and look at what we can do together.

Please note that leaving partway through the two days is treated as a cancellation after December 28.

1.4 If we have to cancel

We are running this cohort. The only thing that would stop us is something we cannot control (the venue closing, weather that shuts the roads, or a public-health order).

If a situation outside our control occurs, we will make it right as far as we can: a seat in the next cohort or a refund of what you paid us for the retreat, less anything we have already spent and cannot recover. That covers your seat. It does not cover what you spent elsewhere: travel, another hotel, time off work. Those are your personal expenses, and we know that isn’t nothing.
